The Bromeliad Society of Greater Chicago was founded in 1975 to promote knowledge, appreciation, and conservation of Bromeliads. Our membership includes people from all over the midwest with interests in collecting and learning about bromeliads. Every year we have a show at the Chicago Botanic Gardens, where prized plants from member collections are displayed with pride, for the first time, we will host the World Conference of the BSI (Bromeliad Society International) in late Spring 2004.

Our Bylaws.

Activities of the Society include:

• The Annual Fall Show at the Chicago Botanic Gardens
• Monthly meetings (mostly at the Chicago Botanic Gardens) where we share our plants and frequently have guest speakers sharing plants from THEIR collections.
• Visits to the greenhouses like EFG Orchids, Jamaican Gardens, etc. in this area, where often the proprietor shares his knowledge and his plants with us (at a discount).
• Our booth at the spring Navy Pier Chicago Flower and Garden Show. Members who help man the booths get free admission to the show.
